The family
guy today needs a medal! He has to sustain a life with one
woman(and in a lot of cases with the wrong type woman). Equally
raise his kids and as a balanced Dad support the family. Today he
has to do a lot more than his father did and his father before him.
The men's role model has been drowning in the women's revolution of
the past 20 years. Somewhere in the past twenty years of this
transitional change he has lost his way.
When a
woman is pregnant most men have a lot to deal with. A
transformation has begun and a male is at a loss to explain the
changes not just physically but emotionally within the woman.
Within the three trimesters of pregnancy he witnesses changes no
one really has prepared him for. Nothing can really prepare a male
for childbirth. It was unlikely our grandfathers (and for some men
their fathers) were present when their wives were giving birth to
their children. Pseudo modern man has been dragged from the waiting
room (his cigar left abandoned) into the "room" to witness
childbirth first hand...one must ask was he really ready for it,
and did he really want to go? Childbirth is a marvel and no one can
deny that but the question we ask is why did women of the past
prefer to have men wait outside and why are women of the past 10-20
years so insistent on having their men standing beside
them?
We know of
many cases where men have difficulty having sex with their wife's
after witnessing childbirth and have sought out counseling to help
them 'get over it'.
With women
now having children later in life he also now has to cope with
'bored' mothers fleeing motherhood and child rearing to return to
work. Visit a day care center between 7am and 8.30am midweek if you
don't believe us. These days children have to get used to
abandonment at a very early age!
It's no
secret men "want their cake and eat it to", but now women have
adopted the same attitude and lets face it, both genders cannot
want the same cake and eat it to. It's also no secret that men
never get their cake and eat it to...they only wish they could.
Most women today in Australia however are getting their cake and
eating it to.
We have
spent some time interviewing men who are married from lawn mowing
contractors to lawyers. One lawn mowing contractor told us he
didn't work Saturday mornings anymore because of "she who must be
obeyed" this was the sort of comment we heard and it seemed after
speaking to a lot of married men that they were far more prepared
to make sacrifices than their partners were (that is according to
them)? We also know the pressures of life and pure financial issues
make it almost mandatory for both partners to continue working
which puts a lot of young children and babies into
childcare
Let's face
it the family man needs a medal and a regular 6 weekly male bonding
getaway to restore his good faith on the "family man"
values!
